project linus moves on...

As you may know DGD and I DID support *Project Linus* with donated quilts, until now that is! The *Project Linus* sponsor has moved out of our area, she closed her sewing machine business....and announced the end of her acceptance of the quilts for *Project Linus* because of needing a total retirement!

The new *Hugs and Kisses* Quilt Project thru "Quilt Odyssey" will now be the receiver of "our" donated quilts. The *Hugs and Kisses* project donates their quilts to the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey PA! And because of the *Hershey Kisses* and the *Hershey Hugs* candies this is 'why' the project is called *Hugs and Kisses*! The quilts donated to this projects are used for babies to 18 year old young people! They are used as comfort quilts and then the child that has the quilt as their comfort quilt gets to keep the quilt!

The guidelines are that the quilt NOT have any type of buttons, ribbons or loose embellishments, for the safety of the child receiving it! Small quilts for babies and young children and single bed quilts for older children....any colors, any pattern, anything that would be cheerful and uplifting for the child that is IN NEED OF A BOOST in their situation! The quilts can be machine quilted or tied but should be quilted in someway! A label is very appropriate for the quilt...as in a get well wish, a prayer or something similar, plus the location of the of the person doing the donation!

My DGD and I do not spend a huge amount of time quilting the quilts we donate because we DON'T HAVE A HUGE amount of time.....but we do have the desire to donate to a worthwhile cause and this is in "our humble opinion" a worthwhile cause. And will become our VERY WORTHWHILE project!! We find that the "orphan blocks" are perfect for putting together a perky and creative quilt. We have "orphan blocks" because we tend to do a TRIAL RUN on quilt blocks for projects! It takes us a fair amount of time to gather together enough *orphan blocks* because we DON'T HAVE A HUGE amount of time to do sewing/quilting! Sometimes it is just *4" or 5" squares* or even *string squares* that end up in our quilts!

God has allowed for DGD and I to have the ability to sew and the *stash of fabric* to use and it just seems like He would want us to put it all to good use!

Happy day to each of you!
