slow and steady...

We have continued our quest to improve the landscaping around our home! We have had help from our family...grandchildren and adult children, plus hubby and I have continued plugging away at the plantings!

(new design for our walkway to the front door, and shrubs waiting to be planted)

(better look at the walk design and step to the front door, reminds me of quilt blocks)

(gorgeous weather this weekend, has allowed for continued brick laying)

(we discovered this huge mushroom growing in our yard, hubby has his hand next to it so you get the idea of the size)

Quilting has had to wait, with my job in the office, and the outside project, it has been tough to do more then the addition of housework. When the project is finished, or the weather turns to winter, then I will return to my quilting and organizing of fabrics! Hubby has also been building shelves for me to sort and store my fabrics. His time in his workshop is also limited by the chance to work outside on the landscaping!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK...I HOPE YOU CAN ENJOY THE FALL LIKE WEATHER!

where is the time going...

This is all that Blogger gave me of my posting! I get a title and none of the pictures that I entered...message said *still searching*...I gave up and will try later with the pictures!

Our landscaping ~ continues to progress...it is looking good!
Hubby is building me fabric shelves (which I need badly)!
School will begin Tuesday ~ and we are working hard to be ready!

Thats about it, no sewing/quilting happening, although I am organizing fabrics for my new shelves ☺ !

Need to do a major housecleaning...windows, carpets, throw away things, wash many curtains, etc...you know the routine!

Have a wonderful week and hopefully another day for my pictures!

anniversary...

Just 50 years ago on this date I married my high school ♥ sweetheart ♥!

All of the "for richer for poorer", "in sickness and health", and "honor and obey", have been tested! I do believe we both have passed the test and are ready for a smooth path from here on out. God has been so good to us...blessed us with two wonderful and talented children and their special spouses, and four amazing grandchildren, with more talents and love then we can ever dream of sharing in! Thank you to our loving God for our many blessings!

Also, it is with great pride and love that I announce that our Grandson Dan (recent Lehigh Grad) has asked his sweetheart Jamie to be his bride! CONGRATULATIONS TO DAN AND JAMIE! I think we are having a very special anniversary indeed!

special kudos...

I know that I have already posted this from Quilt Odyssey, but it is a thrill to see Mickey's name on the *blog* of a well known quilter and teacher. Thank you to Karen Kay Buckley, her second blog posting of Quilt Odyssey Quilts, she acknowledges and shows a picture of Mickey's quilt! Karen Kay does great justice to many of the beautiful quilts entered in the Quilt Odyssey Show for judging.

I also want to say KKB does an excellent class, sharing her secrets and techniques of hand applique. Mickey has not really ventured into applique as the main feature of a quilt, but Karen has helped Mickey to feel more confident doing hand applique, and you will see what the class with Karen did for Mickey (my young quilting sponge absorbing so many techniques in quilting)!

HAPPY DAY TO EACH OF YOU...it is a beautiful day in Central PA!

returning from quilt odyssey...

Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, PA is truly a highlight of my summer! This year was more then just a highlight it was a thrill! Mickey came away as a winner, and I couldn't be happier for her and very proud!

(blue ribbon = first place)

(white ribbon = honorable mention)

I apologize that I don't have more pictures of *other* quilts to share with you, Mickey has those pictures on her camera! The quilts were unbelievable, in design, in technique and perfection. I know that Karen Kay Buckley has entered some pictures on her blog, and you can catch a glimpse of some beauties from her blog. By the way she was one of the teachers that Mickey and I had a class with, she is excellent, very well organized and absolutely an encouragement for any quilter to learn from. If you ever have the chance please do take a class offered by KKB!

Honestly we came home from this show, exhausted, excited, having learned new skills and techniques, brain overload and planning for next year! We have already booked our room for next year, we don't even know what classes will be offered, but we know we want to be part of Quilt Odyssey 2012! The show organizer is Missy Molino, and she is tops...always available and always aware of what is happening with the show. I can't even imagine being the organizer, but she is and she is awesome! This is the 11th year for me at Odyssey and the 7th year for Mickey, we are needing to plan attending the 2012 show around Mickey leaving for college, she has full plans to be at Odyssey and then college, makes me smile at her determination!

progress...

Referring to my 4th of July blog entry you may remember my hubby and I are being blessed with a landscaping project that will very much improve the front walkway and entry to our home. Our children and grandchildren have been spending many hours digging up and removing the old walkway and adding much needed landscaping with flowers, shrubs, mulching and all that is involved with improving the exterior. Have a look at what progress has been made in very limited time and there is more yet to come. Remembering they all have their own projects and homes to care for, we are blessed!

I do love my gardners/landscapers...I think I see a quilt pattern in the walkway design ~ maybe I will need to shop for a small garden flag with a quilt design too!

THANKS GUYS YOU ARE A BLESSING TO US...WE LOVE YOU!
