I know that Mickey has posted about the trip to her blog, so for additional pics of the Gettysburg area please visit her blog! Would you want to visit, IMHO the answer is yes...we found it to be impossible to really see enough in one day, leaving us with a true desire to return and to spend at least two days taking in the history!
(some barns survived the years, showing the trauma of the battle, but loving cared for by the historians, amazing and untouched by modern day expansion)
(original fences and restored fences are very visable in the area)
(monuments prevail on the battlefield...this particular PA Monument shows the PA military names...including an ancestor of our family ~ hubby is proud to show the grandchildren)

(the Eisenhower farm...we have wanted to see this for years...and now we have finally had our chance)
The only thing that would have made this trip ANY better would have been having Joe and Dan (the older two grandsons) along, but jobs kept them from being with us! Grandpa wants to proudly show the *boys* the PA monument and the name of the ancestor so proudly engraved! We will return to Gettysburg with a trip planned for a couple of days...because trying to see it all in one day is just not doable in our opinions!

You were not very far from me.. When I visited the PA monument, I deiscovered that my maiden name Rowley was one of the name that was etched in the stone at the top. How neat is that...
It's on my "must do" list, hopefully soon! Thanks for a glimpse into our nation's history.
What a terrific thing to see a family name honored like that! We've only been to Gettysburg once; it's definitely something I'd like to do again. Thanks for sharing your day in pictures.
