a visitor in the night...

Visiting the local garden center and purchasing a "suet feeder" you would come home with an item that would look like this!

My hubby and I very much enjoy watching the birds at our feeders, including the "suet eaters" ....several different species of Woodpeckers, it is fun to watch them at the feeders!

HOWEVER when a *pesty hungry Black Bear* decides to enjoy the newly purchased suet cakes, the following pictures show what the remaining "suet feeder" will look like emptied of the tasty suet cakes!

Saturday we placed two full cakes of suet in this feeder, and Sunday morning this is what we found on the ground!! YEP WE FED THE "VISITOR IN THE NIGHT"...not uncommon at our house...we find that a Black Bear will visit and rob the feeders, but this is the first in the Spring!

It is a normal occurence to have our seed feeders robbed on 2 or 3 occasions before the Black Bear hibernate for the winter! We have been told by neighbors that they have witnessed our night visitor running thru the yard, but so far WE HAVE NOT! But we have found the end result of the "visitor in the night"! We have decided the Black Bear must have been feeling hungry as it came out of hibernation, and remembered that it could get a good meal at our house ;>0 !!

Oh that is scary. I don't know if I would like bears instead of birds.

You probably have that sign outside your door that we have, that no one sees...
"hungry animals treated well here"...not sure what I would be feeling. Probably a mixture of wonder and a little bit of fear, too.
