uninvited dinner guest...

This "uninvited dinner guest" manages to visit us at least twice a year ~~ and does not need tableware, manages to eat despite *no invitation and no fancy tableware*!

(this was a completely filled suet feeder that was round in shape, the birds love having it available, not crushed and nearly empty on the ground)

(the finches enjoy the *niger seed* ~ they don't like to find the feeder tube empty and full of teeth marks, to say nothing of it being carried off to the woods where we found it)

(the *premium blend* food must be yummy even if it is not being enjoyed by the birds, also found empty, on the ground, the ends stripped from the tube including the squirrel resistant perches, well it did not resist this guest,...a large tube that was full)

(this is a picture *borrowed from the net* of our reported "uninvited dinner guest", it has been seen moving about the area, and it left envidence in our yard that it enjoyed its meal ☺)


We don't know if it is male or female, but reports do not include a cub...so we assume it is either a young PA Black Bear or one that has already sent the cubs out to become the "uninvited dinner guests"! It appears also to us that it may be fairly tall because we found claw marks on the post where it appears to have gripped while removing the suet feeder! Also this time we found bear hair in the area of the suet feeder...I guess desperate to get the suet, and in its effort with the wire tube it scrapped hair from its face...our youngest grandson was thrilled to have the remains of the hair :>)!

Hubby has repaired the feeders, although they are not as GOOD AS NEW they will work just fine! I am sure we will find our "univited guest" returning in the late fall, prior to hibernation, the pattern is this way! This is the most damage that has happened, I would love to SEE it, but NOT encounter it, all visits have been in the wee hours of the morning!
